Phat Traktor aka Spanish DJ and producer Jose Vinilo debuts on Progrez with a sublime two tracker entitled ‘Voyage EP’. Jose started out in music at just 15 when he first got into music production after being captivated by the 90’s dance music revolution. His style of music varies and when he DJ’s he likes to be unpredictable while always delivering an explosive set. He has graced the decks with many greats such as John Digweed, James Zabielia, Joris Voorn and more.
First up we have ‘Voyage’ which starts life as a chunky kick with a cool percussion backup creating a flowing rhythmic vibe. Soon a lush bass begins to bubble up from below as faded synth pads drift in and out. Cool FX fills up the sound in all the right places as the groove takes on a hypnotic state that grabs a hold of your senses. The track powers on relentlessly and will be a most welcome addition in any progressive set.
‘Voyage 2.0’ is next and what we get is a merciless ride through the darker side of progressive as phat kicks combine perfectly with a truly deep rooted bass. Very subtle percussions give way to the super low end on this track as swirling pads tease throughout. The groove becomes infectious as the beats charge forward and take hold. An absolute stomper that will have the bass bins shaking and will no doubt be the highlight in many sets.
