AUDIO NOIR – LIFE (BONZAI PROGRESSIVE)

After a sublime remix on Quadran’s, Animals Rebellion, Audio Noir kicks off 2015 with the superb Life, which comes packed with three awesome remixes as well as two original versions. 2014 was extremely busy for Australia’s hardest working producer, a studio album, multiple releases and a plethora of remixes have put this guys at the top of his game. So much more to come from down under so make sure you stay tuned.

The Vox On mix intros with a cool scratchy percussion arrangement that leads into a pounding kick and sharp hat combi. Swirling strings bring a surreal feeling to the track with a melodic flavour that draws you in. The track breaks to reveal a stunning female vocal full of melancholy and the perfect contrast to the high pitched strings before descending into a deeper, darker progressive groove with the addition of a bubbling bass that adds a wonderfully warm texture to the sound. Excellent stuff yet again that will whet the appetite for those deep prog sets. Also, check out the Vox Off with the vocal stripped out to leave a sublime instrumental version.

First up on remix duties we have Alex Vidal with his deep and lush progressive grooves. Alex’s last outing, Pieces Of A Dream back in the last quarter of 2014 was very well received indeed with support coming in from all angles. Here he injects some fantastic prog vibes into the remix right from the off as a nice punchy kick is joined by crispy hats and a rolling bass that fades up beautifully to dominate the track. In the background pads form up and provide a wonderful atmosphere to the sound that fits perfectly with the darker tones. The bass is complimented by some very cool chord stabs that evolve throughout the track. On the break we get a glimpse of the vocal with its playful yet haunting feel. A true deep and hypnotic slice here that you will not want to miss.

The ever popular Yuriy From Russia is next up on the remix. In 2014 Yuriy churned out multiple remixes for Bonzai, including a remix on Audio Noir’s Almost Famous, that gained lots of attention and charted across many platforms. He also got showings on many compilations including Club Traxx Progressive House 13 and Bonzai & Friends Underground Progressive Collection among others. Here the track intros with a cool round of percussions that layer up into a smooth flowing rhythmic vibe. A deep and lush bass takes over the track and drives the groove beautifully into progressive utopia. Swirling pads litter the background and bring a melodic edge to the sound as the vocals tease their way through. The track builds nicely and those playful vocals really add great character. The bass develops into a groovy mover as various notes begin to cascade through. Another top notch effort from Yuriy that will be a welcome addition to any set.

Narel aka Nick Simmons rounds up this package with his Remix Parts 1 & 2. We last saw Narel on Green Martian with the outstanding The View At 2 AU. On top of that he also got an appearance on the chart topping Bonzai & Friends compilation. Great to see this guy back and we hope to see more of him in the future. The remix today comes in two parts, the intro brings a myriad of synths and strings that form intricate and colourful patterns. The track takes off with a fantastic punchy kick that really dominates and works perfectly with the mid range sounds. A somewhat laidback groove comes off the bass as it meanders through the sound working in tandem with the melodic flow of the track before it begins its rise with superb note changes. On the break we get drawn into a beautiful melodic sequence as cascading arps fade through and lead us into the second half of the remix which becomes a slightly more upbeat affair. The vocal sweeps through the sound throughout and brings with it a contrasting melancholy. A stunning journey into the progressive world from Narel making this a track you will not want to miss.

QUADRAN – ANIMALS REBELLION (BONZAI PROGRESSIVE)

Veteran DJ and producer Quadran aka Philippe Van Mullem makes a welcome return with the fantastic Animals Rebellion which comes packed with two superb remixes. His last outing Rumour performed very well indeed with much support across the board. Since then his tracks have appeared on multiple compilations through various labels, including the 2012 stomper Vertigo which appears on the chart topping Bonzai & Friends mega pack. Delighted to see this man return and we look forward to more in the future.

First up is the Original Mix which sets out with an energetic intro filled with a rolling bassline and a nice punchy kick alongside crispy hats. The bassline gets you locked right into the groove as various sounds begin to filter through, creating a cool, colourful image. The track breaks to reveal an atmospheric pad that brings a sense of euphoria to the sound. The pads ebb and flow as a myriad of cascading arps shine through and give the track its hook. Quite a nostalgic sounding track here from a master of the original trance sound and well worth queuing up in those upbeat progressive sets.

The man from down under, Audio Noir, delivers Another Audio Noir Odyssey, and yet again we find ourselves totally locked into his tribalistic, futuristic vibes. 2014 proved to be extremely productive for this talented artist, he had his hand in multiple remixes as well as an exhaustive release schedule. On top of all that he had his debut album, Almost Famous see the light of day, and on the back of that we saw two volumes full of top class remixes from various tracks off the album. No doubt 2015 will be even bigger, we hope so. Here the remix intros with a cool glitchy sound which is soon joined by a tough edged bassline that fills the sound beautifully. A steady rhythm is formed with the addition of sharp hats, snappy claps and a tight tribal fuelled slapped drum arrangement. The intro gains intensity with a sudden burst of rich synth pads as distant kicks tease their way in, the track fades off to reveal a very cool spoken vocal before we slam right into the 4×4 beat we’ve been craving. The relentless bassline and the sub retro synths make for a truly hypnotic experience as the track settles in for the duration. The break hones in on those wonderfully sharp pads and takes us back into the main groove with ease. Another top quality slice, not to be missed.

Relaunch returns with another absolute stomper of a remix. His stunning sounds continue to garner great support from many around the world, as seen with his last release, Sleepwalking EP. A very much in-demand artist whose sounds span various labels and cover various genres with ease. His radioshow, Electronic Delight just recently passed its 50th episode and has an ever increasing fan base. Expect more from this guy in 2015. On the remix he holds no bounds as he unleashes the power of a strong and driving progressive groove on our senses. The intro crashes in with wonderful pads and sharp synth layers alongside solid beats and cool FX. The bassline lurks in the background with its deep drone allowing the myriad of mid range sounds time to play. The short break offers a respite before slamming right back into this full on prog monster of a tune. Perfect ammo for those late night sets.

The Balance Mix intros with a solid bass and kick combi that raises the energy levels right from the off. Shuffling hats give off a smooth rhythmic flow and blend perfectly with the deeper bass and punchy kicks. Big focus on the melodies with wispy pads that bring a richness to the sound, alongside a catchy note sequence. The synths are where it’s at here, big trance-like stabs with an infectious appeal that will definitely raise the roof at any venue. Top notch stuff and a definite must have.

The dynamic duo from Tallinn is back with another stomping progressive house cut in the shape of The Preachers. Zas and Sanze have been at the forefront of Bonzai Progressive label for many years now and they never disappoint. 2014 saw multiple releases and remixes with great feedback coming from many quarters. The summer saw the release of You Know Why which was followed up by remixes for the likes of Dark Soul Project and Ecco, the guys also featured on the chart topping Bonzai & Friends Progressive Underground Collection which gained the number 1 spot over at Beatport in January 2015. The hugely talented Rishi K. is first up on remix duty. We last saw Rishi back in October 2014 with the widely regarded Black Ice and then soon after with an appearance on our Bonzai & Friends compilation. Rishi is also active on many other labels with a raft of releases covering various styles, always one to watch. On the remix Rishi gets right into house music mode with an absolute banging sound. The intro boasts the classic kick and hat combi with a sharp clap on the 2 and 4 as smooth house keys lurk around the background. The bassline plunders into the groove with its funky tones marrying perfectly with the outstanding vocal, all of which makes for a proper booty shakin experience. On the break we get a fantastic stabbing piano chord sequence that solidifies the groove beautifully. An absolute must have track that will fill floors easily.

Steve Sai is up next on the remix and he delivers the goods in his own unique style yet again. Steve’s track, Stardust saw a release during the Summer of 2014 and grabbed a lot of attention as expected. Recently he has made appearances on a few of our compilations including Bonzai & Friends, Afterhour Trax 14 and Club Traxx Deep & Dark 2. Much more to come from this guy so well worth looking out for. The remix intros with a cool pulsing bass and tight drum sequence with rising synths and short vocal hits. A nice and phat kick soon joins the party as the bassline comes to the fore with its bubbling grooves. A lot of attention is paid to the superbly crafted drum patterns that give the track a lot of rhythm which will get the floors moving no doubt. The break focuses in on the bass with wispy sounds accompanying the vocals and beautiful piano before we get thrust back into the main track for the duration. Top notch stuff from Steve and will no doubt turn a few heads.

GREENAGE – LOST MEMORIES (BONZAI PROGRESSIVE)

Goa born and now living in Panaji, India, Greenage debuts on Bonzai Progressive with the stunning Lost Memories. For the past four years Greenage has been at the forefront of progressive vibes with his brand of quality productions. He has appeared on top labels such as Mystique Music, Elliptical Sun Recordings, Inception and Green House to name just a few. We are delighted to have him on board and can see exciting things for the future. Lost Memories comes with two outstanding remixes that are not to be missed.

The Original Mix gets us moving with its smoothed edges and flowing rhythms. The classic kick and hat styled intro leads us into a beautifully constructed progressive world. Tight beats are joined by a superbly warm bass that hits the spot with its deep lush vibes while a hypnotizing synth riff sits over the top alongside expertly placed FX. The groove intensifies with rich pads swelling up in the background as Eastern flavours begin to make an appearance. The break unleashes the full power of the melodies in the track and culminate with a beautiful string pluck before we get thrust back into the main groove. A real mover here that will grace many floors no doubt.

One of Bonzai’s undoubted top artists hits the remix desk for a journey into a pure progressive world. With an ever increasing workload and ongoing multiple projects, Manu Riga delivers his Night At Goa Remix and he is here to show how it’s done. In just the last few months he has churned out quality remixes for Samotarev, Chris Harris, Mendexx and JWM as well as his own tracks, including a reworking of his Bonzai debut Tai Chi Girl. His recent collab with Matt Holiday has resulted in an upcoming release this February, a brand new radio show and much more. A huge year for this guy is on the cards, well worth keeping an eye and ear on. On the intro we are met with crispy hats and sharp claps that blend perfectly with the punchy kicks on offer. A deep droning bass creates a dark atmosphere as various synths and other sounds fill the spectrum alongside expertly crafted FX sequences. Manu entrenches his tribalistic style into the sound with some brilliant drum patterns that marry up beautifully with the ever evolving bassline. Goa elements litter the sound with haunting Eastern voices fading in and out of the groove. A proper, driving slice of progressive that will be a welcome addition in any set.

Blufeld is up next with his Past Is Present Remix and he does not disappoint with his energetic offering. David (Blufeld) is somewhat of a Bonzai stalwart having been around the label since 2008, many tracks have been released across various Bonzai labels since then, including multiple albums. His last full release, Threlkeld gained much support as did his remixes for Alex Vidal and Digital Department, he also got featured on the chart topping Bonzai & Friends Underground Progressive Collection, which rose to the number 1 spot at Beatport. Recently he announced a 4th studio album and a slight change in his production style for 2015, watch this space. The remix intros with a cool drum sequence with sweeping FX splattered over the top, this leads to a short breakbeat groove before going full on 4×4 and picking up the pace. Energy levels rise as a strong synth line hits hard alongside a melodic arp and a wall of noise. The break unleashes the full melodic flavour of the track as the hook dishes out its trance-like vibe and then subtly relenting to bring the beats back to the progressive nature of the track. Superb stuff from Blufeld that will appeal to many across the board no doubt.
