Russian DJ and producer Ruslan Vashkevich returns to BP after his debut Simargl back in October 2014. This time around on Ashuar, we are treated to three top notch cuts that will get those progressive juices flowing. The title track Ashuar, intros with nice punchy kick drum and cool percussive hits that steadily build up into a full blown rhythm section. Rich strings fade through creating a sublime atmosphere alongside some very cool FX. The bass brings the progressive groove of the track to the fore as it meanders through the sound beautifully with its plucky vibe and clipped edges. A deep hypnotic groove ensues that will have you locked on for the duration.
I’m Fine, What’s Happening picks up the pace a bit with an up-tempo kick that takes us into a rising offset synth and a pulsing bass combi. The synths transform throughout with varying degrees of pitch and modulation. A tight drum arrangement provides a solid rhythm that will keep the feet moving on the floors no doubt. This track will fit nicely into the faster paced sets and bring a nice slice of energy to the proceedings.
Jene Nete takes on a real smooth progressive flow from the outset with its lazy bass and shuffling rhythms. A tight arrangement keeps everything in check as distant pads begin to rise in the background. The break descends into total silence before that punchy kick brings us back into the main groove. Quite a minimalistic vibe that solidifies the saying that less is more, and with Jene Nete this is true. A definite must have track for those late night sets.

The Original Mix gets us going with a tough, pounding kick and sharp hat intro as metallic hits drop on the downbeat. A cool shuffling rhythm ensues as a deep bubbling bassline takes control of the sound. The deep bass remains a constant while a sub bass filters off to add an edgy touch. A fantastic ‘deep in the house’ vocal wafts through the sound beautifully and adds a great character to the sound. On the break cascading arps take the track deeper into the progressive world resulting in a super tight groove that will hold you in its grip for the duration. Superb stuff yet again from Phil and a must have track for sure.
The Stripped Mix is a much smoother track than its original sibling. The powerful deep grooves remain but with a slightly different drum arrangement that still packs a huge punch as it dishes out a full flowing rhythmic sequence. The cascading arps are still a big feature alongside that deep, solid bassline and house inspired vocal. Definitely not to be missed.
On the remix we have Tribal Warriors aka M.I.K.E./Push who we last saw on Bonzai Basiks with his Defiance EP. 2014 was another big year for Mike as his tracks and remixes gained chart topping status across various portals. Already in 2015 he has some great things lined up including more Push Live which always makes for exciting times. Don’t forget to check out Club Elite Sessions to stay up to date with all the goings on. The remix intros with a muted kick as a wasp-like sound fades through, instantly grabbing your attention. A strong throbbing bass rises up from the depths and is joined by bright, crispy hats and sharp claps which provide a cool rhythm to the sound. The kicks are transformed into nice punchy shots that balances things out beautifully. An intensity builds in the track as synths begin to form up alongside that very cool vocal. On the break the swirling synths are tweaked and filtered into a frenzy before we crash back down with a superb kick and analog synth combi. A proper tech fuelled groover here that is the perfect crossover track into the progressive world.
DJ and producer Christopher Hermann debuts on Bonzai Progressive with the sublime Point G. Also known as KristÛf Hermann, he has been a lover of music all his life. His early years were spent listening to lots of music, but in 2003 everything changed after hearing Hernan Catteneo’s Renaissance Master Of Series. Progressive House became something he would pursue with gusto and he started to as much tracks as he could. In 2007 he made his first mixes under the name Christopher Hermann and quickly gained a reputation as a respected DJ with quality tunes and tight mixes. His tracks have appeared on labels like Klinik Room, Emotional Noise, BQ Recordings, Balkan Connection South America, Clinique Recordings and Crosslink Music. A fine addition to the label and hopefully more to come in the future.
First up we have Point G with its stunningly deep bass driven intro. Phat kicks are layered over a throbbing deep bass as wispy sounds fly through the sound. The rhythm gathers pace with the introduction of a cool hat and clap pattern. The track takes on an erotic flavour as various voices seduce the senses with their sexual appeal. Dark toned stabs litter the groove with cool house textures as the progressive edge drives the track. On the break things heat up to a feverish pitch as a female voice groans with pleasure before that huge kick and bass combo returns. Superb stuff that will go down a treat in the darker rooms.
High Heels & Lingerie intros with a snappy kick and a smooth plucked bass sequence while swirling stynths create a cool atmosphere. The groove goes deep here as that bass etches into your brain, hypnotizing your mind with its progressive prowess. Cascading notes bring a hint of melody as the layers build and create a solid rhythmic flow alongside the crispy hats and percussions. The break lets loose on the synths before slamming right back into the main groove. A top notch progressive cut you will not want to miss.
