Extreme Trax is back after a long hiatus with the superb Sound And Future which comes in original and dub flavours as well as a remix from the on form Audio Noir. Extreme Trax is responsible for a multitude of Progressive Trance and Trance hits in the late 90’s and early 00’s on XTC and Bonzai Trance Progressive with tracks such as Don’t Hold Back, Monday’s Blue and Final Fantasy. Now headed up by the legendary Yves Deruyter and given a 2015 makeover we are sure that this will strike chord with old and new fans alike.
First up we have the Original Mix of Sound And Future which gives off a real live sounding particularly through the drums with their session like qualities. The drum arrangement is big feature here and really gets the feet moving with their tight construction and solid rhythm. A raw sounding organic bass chugs through the sound beautifully and dominates for the duration. On top of the bass we have some very cool synth leads that ooze early 90’s flavour and sit so perfectly in the sound alongside sweeping pads and climactic risers. Stunning work from Mr Deruyter that will surely have the discerning clubbers wanting more.
The Dub mix is a stripped version of its big brother, we still get that live feel from the drums and that bass just dominates with its chugging driving force. In fact the bass has an even bigger place on this mix as the synths take a slight step back. But do not despair as those expertly crafted leads are still in effect and still carry their big lead qualities. Look out for the nod to the 80’s in the form of some very cool FX that lay hidden within the sound. Top notch stuff and a must have track for sure.
Audio Noir is up on remix duty with his EuroBeat remix and he really does do the original some justice with a sprinkling of his own trademark sound. Recently Audio Noir has confessed to changing things up a bit in his productions, he started toying with Electro and 80’S sounds and this remix is providing the perfect platform to showcase this slight change in direction. Nice chunky kicks are joined by stuttering crispy hats and snappy snares alongside delayed claps. A beautifully deep piano chord takes us up the I Feel Love styled rolling bassline that just sits perfectly within the 80’s inspired drums and percussions. Sweeping pads and rising FX complete with laser sounds litter the groove as we lose ourselves in this medley of synthtastic sounds. In true Audio Noir style we are treated to a sublime break that unleashes sweet melodic phrases before a sci-fi riser takes us back into the main groove. Superb stuff yet again from this guy you will not want to miss.

A Belgian legend joins us at Bonzai Progressive with a sublime track, Angel’s Arms. Fatal Error aka Patrick De Meyer is hailed as one of the New Beat and early Belgian rave greats. Having started his career in 1986 with the group Turbo 99, he soon became recognised as a top producer, remixer, arranger and composer. As the New Beat era raged on many artists were nurturing the new club sound that would be acid house and early rave. Patrick soon found himself at the forefront of this new movement as Technotronic’s Pump Up The Jam stormed the charts all over Europe. Prior to this, Patrick’s T99 project was lurking in the background having secured a couple of New Beat hits. T99 would be transformed into the much loved acid, hardcore, techno sound with the hard hitting Anasthasia which would become a benchmark for the rave sound in the early 90’s. As the years rolled on Patrick has notched up a dizzying amount of works covering many styles which will definitely remain firmly rooted in Belgium’s rich music history. As a nod to this Fatal Error and T99 have been included in the hugely popular The Sound Of Belgium (TSOB) compilation which covers the whole spectrum of the Belgian dance music scene. Angel’s Arms comes with three top quality remixes that you simply cannot miss out on.
First up on remix duty is Airwave with his Breaks Remix and boy does he deliver. Airwave continues to be a firm favourite among many due to his strong commitment to his profession. Never scrimping on quality and always leaving you with wanting more. His latest outing, Gaijin, on Joof is currently doing the rounds at the top end of many charts which is no surprise. Lots of gigs coming up as well as new material in the works, expect load more in the future. Big, pounding kicks are joined by snappy snares and bright hats that really get the rhythm flowing. A deep droning bass keeps the low end grooving as those big beats take full control. The deep and raspy vocal from Patrick sits perfectly within the sound and is contrasted by some spritely high pitched strings. On the breakdown distorted guitars fade out as Airwave delivers his signature soundscape that always captivates the mind before slamming right back into the main groove for the duration. Another top notch cut from the master which is most definitely not to be missed.
Belgian DJ, producer and house music stalwart Tom De Neef is up next with his remix that delivers a burst of quality house grooves. Tom has been around the scene for quite a while now and from his earliest tracks to his latest tracks he has always delivered the goods. He was a member of various groups such as Blue Minds and Calvin Stones as well as several aliases of his own and he has a vast back catalogue spanning many top labels. 1997 and 1998 saw him get great support on labels like Additive, Positiva and FFRR with subsequent releases on Fluential and Defected. His remix CV covers the likes of Kylie Minogue, Roger Sanchez, Jon Cutler and Kings Of Tomorrow. On the remix he lets loose with a superb house fuelled groove with a fantastic piano hook that will definitely get the floors pumping. Tight drums and a deep pulsing bass keeps the groove flowing with ease as Patrick’s deep monotone voice is joined by a crisp female vocal. A nice full on house joint that has a classic feel, not to be missed.
Australian producer Audio Noir returns with his remix entitled An Audio Noir Trip, and what a trip we are in for. As promised, Audio Noir continues to make 2015 one of his best years to date. Already he has dished out the superb Life as well as remixes on Rise and Falls Immersion and the late great Quadran’s Animals Rebellion. Much more to come from this guy so stay tuned. On the remix he takes us deep into the progressive world with chunky kicks, bright hats and tight drum section. A hypnotic bassline runs right through the sound and locks you into the groove beautifully. The vocals have been given a sinister makeover as they sit deeper in the sound. The background is littered with sweeping FX and cool noises that add great textures all over. Another top notch cut from down under that will not disappoint.

Rise And Fall aka Russian based DJ and producer Anton Vishniakov is back at the helm with Immersion which comes with a superb remix from Audio Noir. June 2014 saw his last release Seize The Day gain a lot of support, since then he has delivered various remixes as well as appearances on many of our compilations, the most recent being the Miami WMC 2015 compilation.
The Original Mix intros with a nice dark theme as a deep growling bass is met with punchy kicks and rising FX. The bass meanders through the sound beautifully as it command authority over the groove. Percussion and drum layers build to bring out a solid rhythmic flow as the atmospheric tones of the track are revealed by the superb array of pads and FX. The break delves into the deeper elements before we get slammed back into this tough edged progressive stomper that is not to be missed.
A firm favourite on the remix is back with another of his stunning reworks. Audio Noir delivers his Hypnotiks remix and once again he knocks it outta the park with his signature deep fuelled style. 2015 already looks like a bumper year for this guy, he kicked off with his own track Life before submitting remixes for Matan Caspi and Quadran aka Philippe van Mullem who sadly passed away in February. Much more to come from Audio Noir so be sure to stay tuned. As the title of the remix suggest we are in for a hypnotic ride through the deeper sounds of progressive house. The intro provides a subtle induction with sweeping FX, smooth percussions and a soft hat. Nice punchy kicks join in and the groove gathers pace alongside a solid rhythm. The bass adds a world of depth to the sound that really draws you in and captivates the mind, body and soul. The first break reveals a sublime atmosphere which is greatly enhanced by a fantastic spoken vocal that leads us back into the main groove. The epic ride continues with that bass dominating as melodic pads sit aloof in the background. A super solid ride through deep progressive that you most definitely will not want to miss.
Matan is back with the irresistible Serenity which comes backed up with a remix from Audio Noir, enough to get the progressive taste bud flowing. Matan remains a very popular figure at Bonzai, his work always oozes quality and attracts a lot of attention. His last outing Aim To The Moon, did just that having gained top spots across various platforms. Always an exciting time when his stuff comes through the office.
After being featured last week in the Progressive House genre page, Matan Caspi – Serenity (An Audio Noir Safari) is charted by Beatport in the Secret Weapons: Progressive House chart!
