Diego Herrera returns to Basiks with the double-a side Slow Burn. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Diego, his debut came in September 2013 with Afterhour EP with a great reception, after that he gave us the fantastic Middle Earth EP and then a remix on Christian Bonori & Paul S-Tone’s Chemtrails back in March 2014. Great to see him back with another track we are sure will not disappoint.

First up is the Original Mix of Slow Burn with its smooth deep tech house grooves. The intro boasts cool breaks that build up with percussive elements filtering through to get the rhythm flowing. The track instantly transforms with a four four beat and superb offset bass that seems fathomless as it pulsates through the sound. Bright percussion hits stand out beautifully and become the mainstay of the track keeping that tech flavour going. Subtle chords leak into the sound after the break rounding up this fantastic rhythm fuelled slice of tech.

Slow Burn gets a makeover from Christian Venegas with his Christian Venegas Is Burning In Hell Remix. Chilean DJ and producer Christian is a popular figure in the underground scene. He got into DJing professionally in 2006 after he started to buy records and has since performed at top venues all over the country. His weekly radio show Microtechnia airs on SonidoLikido and he currently produces for a vast array of top labels. Here he toughens up the sound with big punchy kicks and some superb in your face percussions that are a big feature in the sound. Staying true to the original he utilises the deep bass beautifully and carries over the main percussion hook to great effect. A driving and ballsy cut that will be a feature in many sets for sure.

The Vibe intros with a nice chunky kick and clangy synth shots that get the track moving with style. A wonderfully deep sub bass dominates the sound as subtle percussions build around the track. After a short break the groove settles into its tech flavoured vibe as that bass pounds the bassbins. Bright crispy hats stand out and leads us to the break where a surreal sequence filled with metallic sounds and frenzied FX takes over. Before long we get thrust back into the main track for the duration of this epic encounter with full on tech house.

Da One sets off with a monster kick that pounds a throbbing jab right in your face alongside a continuous rimshot and sharp snappy hats. A deep resonating bass rises up in the background and gets you hooked right into its groove. Detuned hits litter the sound and add to the almost eerie nature of the track. The break throws up a brilliant display of automation on the percussions that gives the track a lot of character before we get thrown right back into the mix. Top notch techno which is not to be missed.
