Biography

d-phrag is a Bulgarian DJ and producer. With no formal musical education, music always has been an essential part of his life. As every teenager of his generation he enjoyed heavy metal and punk rock, as well as many other music styles. His affection for electronic music dates back to 2002. His musical taste has been heavily influenced by the Global Underground series, The Essential Mix on BBC, as well as John Digweed’s Kiss 100 radioshow. The DJ’s that shaped his vision for the modern electronic music – Kleineberg, Sasha, Digweed, Oakenfold, Dave Seaman…to name a few.At some point he decided to try some DJ software to make a mix with only the tracks he likes and that was the moment he fell in love with the DJ mixing. After a year of rather underground mixing, he was invited to do a guest mix as “Artist Of The Week” on friskyradio.com – and that event logically led to his own DJ show on the same radio. The monthly show is called Immersed and is streamed every 4- th Friday of the month. Currently it has an average of 3500 listeners from all over the world and is one of the oldest and most respected shows on friskyradio. Besides that he has been ivited as a guest DJ to probably every major internet dance music radiostation – TM Radio, Proton,AeroGrooves, ET N.FM, DI.FM, Pure.FM…In 2008 d-phrag co-hosted Immersed with his young colleague Plamen K. They also started a collaboration as a DJ duo, playing on various events in Bulgaria. In October 2009 d-phrag has been invited by DJ Balthazar to play on one of the biggest events in Bulgaria, RENESANZ – featuring many big names in the electronic music.In 2010/2011 he has been traveling to Ukraine and Belarus, enjoying quite a warm welcome and very positive feedback from the audience. In 2012 he joined forces with the talented Hungarian producer Napalm for collaboration on music production. In just 6 months their productions appeared on respected labels like Bonzai Progressive, System Recordings, Lost Language, Balkan Connection, Stripped Digital, Baires Recordings, Mistique Music, Spring Tube, Bequem Digital, Mirabilis Records, LUPS Records, OLD SQL Recordings and more. T heir origila production and remixes has been supported by the biggest names in progressive house genre, and especially their remix of qoob – Australia, who has been supported, played and charted by none other than Hernan Cattaneo.
