Biography

Tech house stalwart Paul Sawyer has been a staple of theelectronic music scene since the launch of his career in1992; a year that saw him take Bournemouth by storm withriotous sets at The Manor, House of Windsor and Madisons.Over the past twenty years he has experienced hugesuccess, not only as a DJ and producer but also as apromoter and label head: now managing the extensiveKrafted Music group which counts Endemic Digital, EJUnderground, Bloxblox and Sounds of Juan amongst it’scollection of niche underground dance labels.Throughout both his productions and DJ sets, Pauldemonstrates a vast understanding of the finer nuances ofhouse and techno. Repeatedly pointed to as a leading lightwithin the UK’s house and techno scene, he has been citedby DJ magazine as one of the top ten resident DJ’s withinthe UK and tipped by Mixmag as one of their DJ’s to watch.As well as receiving airplay for his own productions onstations such as BBC Radio 1, Paul has demonstrated ahuge overall passion for electronic music: using hisinfluence to showcase the talents of both established andemerging dance artists through his various record labels,club nights and events.Taking up a residency alongside Carl Cox in 1994 atsuperclub Eden Ibiza (then T he Star Club), in his role as copromoterPaul was instrumental in bringing the Prodigy overto the island for an exclusive, one-off performance. Fuelledby a successful summer season on the Balearic Isle, hereturned to the UK to launch the notorious and highlyinfluential Menage A Trois: setting Southampton on fire witha series of infamous boat parties that saw the likes of PaulOakenfold, John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seaman, DannyRampling, Carl Cox, Seb Fountaine and James Z abielascramble to tear up the decks with an onslaught of freshand exciting new dance tunes.Having held slots at some of the UK’s biggest clubs,including Ministry of Sound, Cream, Bestival, B’estfest,Bedrock and Passion, Paul has gone on to wield his slickmixing skills at numerous clubs and festivals across theglobe. Pushing the sounds of deep tech house through hisDJ sets – Paul favour’s the soulful vocals and smooth,stylish demeanour that defines the genre’s classic sound.Influenced by artists such as Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Umek,Sven Vath and Maetrik, he has cultivated his own fresh andunparalleled style over the course of his many years withinthe industry.
