Nico Parisi and Gai Barone have joined forces in the studio and came up with the stunningly deep progressively charged ‘Perla’ which is packed full with four brilliant remixes. The guys have both been on fire lately with their own works, Nico’s ‘Soulit’ gained rave reviews from many quarters while Gai’s ‘Cartaria’ continues to perform well all over. We’ve seen some exciting partnerships over the years at Bonzai and this one will no doubt be the start of something great with the hope of more to come, watch this space.
We get started with the Original Mix which intros with a punchy kick and some very cool percussions, but the big draw on the intro is the haunting background sounds that will send a chill down your spine. A deep growling bass takes the track further into the progressive depths as those haunting sounds continue. The bass intensifies as the track unfolds with the help of dark pads. The short break leads us directly back into full on mode as this relentless journey reaches its climax. Superb stuff and sure to be a hit with many!
Philthy Chit aka UK based producer Phil Taylor is first up on remix duty. Phil is a very popular choice for remixing as he has the Midas touch when it comes to reworking original tracks with his own brand of the darker side of progressive. That’s exactly what we get here. The intro gets the grooves flowing with a great breaks type beat along with cool percussive elements and shored up with a stuttering bass. Haunting soundscapes stay true to the original as the track gathers pace with the introduction of a nice chunky kick and crispy hat combi. The track builds and builds and climax with a superb vocal sample and a full on gritty vibe that takes us through to the end. Great stuff yet again from Phil, not to be missed.
Dutch DJ, producer and Bonzai regular Thorin delivers another stunning remix. Thorin has had a whole raft of top class cuts in recent times and is always ready to step up to the remix plate. His last outing on Bonzai Progressive, ‘Hallucinogen’ was very well received indeed and since then he has been responsible for many fantastic remixes, including this one. The track intros with a strong thumping kick and consistent arp sequence and backed up with a round of rhythmic percussions. Deep droning bass pads sweep throughout the track and add an air of intensity to the sound. The main bass ploughs right through the track and gives it that wonderful progressive edge we love. Cool stabby synths build their way up to the break where we descend into the abyss before being slammed right back into the main groove with a vengeance. Absolute stomper of a track with epic qualities that will get a lot of attention.
Rise And Fall aka Russian DJ and producer Anton Vishniakov is up next with his remix. Recently we saw Rise and Falls’ ‘Imagination’ get a lot of attention just like his previous outings. He has a unique progressive style that really gets under your skin and here he holds no bounds as we are treated to a stunning display of craftsmanship. A very understated intro sets us off as a simple kick is joined by distant hats and some fantastic percussions. The backdrop to this is a truly mesmerizing sequence of sinister sounding pads and a heartbeat type bass sound. All these sounds blend perfectly as the main track gets into full swing with the addition of chunky kick and a deep, pulsing bass. As the layers build you get locked in to this sound with its tough, gritty edge. You will not want this to end, a definite must for the darker sets for sure!

Most notably his track ‘Caress’ (Philthy Chit Remix) was a popular choice on Paul Oakenfold’s Full On Flouro show. A testament to the quality on offer from one of Belgium’s legendary artists.
First up the Original Mix gets us going with a very smooth progressive vibe, the intro boasts a melancholic soft melody which gives rise to a superb throbbing bassline. Nice big kicks enter and deliver cool rhythms with the help of tight percussion arrangement. The track builds beautifully as the melodies unwind and dominate the break. Cool vocal samples come through on the break as the synths intensify before slamming back into full on progressive mode for the duration. Excellent stuff from Nico and no doubt we will be seeing a lot of this track in the future.

Mike, as you would imagine continues to be an extremely hardworking DJ and producer with gigs taking him all around the world. Back at his New York base he delves into his studio to churn out some of the finest tunes around and this remix is no exception. Pumping kicks alongside a powerful vocal get the track started while cool percussive elements build nicely and stamp out flowing rhythms. The bassline plunders in and the whole dynamic changes taking us deep into the progressive sound. Cool synth riffs wait patiently in the background before being unleashed on the break in all their glory. Stunning work from Mike and sure to draw a lot of attention.
Audio Noir sure does get around. Not content with his own quality productions, he lends his skills to other tracks with outstanding results such as this. Audio Noir’s Pressure Mix takes the progressive vibe on the original into the deeper realms. From the get go we are drawn in by a chunky kick and tribal led percussion arrangement with a massive resonating bass coming from way down below. The vocals are used well with a classic sample thrown to great effect. Intense synths sit back as the bass morphs into a metallic sounding riff that dominates the break before the synths show their full force. More top quality prog out of Australia that is most definitely not to be missed.

The vocals have been give a gritty makeover adding to the dark edge on the track. Fantastic synths loiter in the background as hypnotic sound dominates throughout. The break offers a softer side to the track before crashing right back into that solid progressive groove. Simply stunning from Thorin and will no doubt feature in those tougher edged sets.
