Cypriot DJ and producer Andreas Metaxas aka A.M.X debuts on Bonzai Progressive with the sublime Secret Lover. Andreas started out DJing from a young age as he had the urge to share his own electronic music experience with everyone. He began to play regularly at top clubs in 2008 which led to sharing line-ups with the likes of Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate, Wippenberg and more. Currently based in the UK Andreas has seen releases on various labels including Karmak Records, Disco Rebels Records, Paprika Musika and Polytechnic Records among others. Lots of new stuff in the pipeline for this guy and we are delighted to have him here at Bonzai Progressive. Secret Lover comes with two fantastic remixes from Tali Freaks and Manuel Palmitesta.
The Original Mix intros with a silky smooth deep vibe as a warm sweeping pad flows beautifully alongside a nice punchy kick and subtle percussion arrangement. As the layers build a strong house groove is born allowing you to get lost in its hypnotic state. On the break a brilliant, raspy evocative vocal captures your imagination and keeps you locked on. Top notch stuff that will appeal to many.
Tali Freaks is up first on the remix with a truly sublime cut. We last saw Tali Freaks back in May this year with his Set The Sun on Eyepatch Recordings. The remix here intros with a cool deep kick as bright percussions begin to stitch together forming a flowing rhythmic vibe. The vocals work well and leads us to a smooth stepping bassline that will definitely get those asses shakin. A pure house vibe with a funky undertone that will be a welcome addition in any set.
Manuel Palmitesta returns to Bonzai Progressive on remix duty after his superb remix on Ecco’s switch during the summer. Here he toughens up the groove with a nice chunky kick and sharp percussions that bond well to deliver a tight drum arrangement. A deep pulsating bass sits on the offset beat giving that driving vibe to the sound. Cool house vibes with a sprinkling of techno giving off a very groovy feeling, definitely one to watch.
Tali Freaks is back with the wonderful ‘Set The Sun’. This track comes in two flavours which are sure to grace many sets this coming summer. We last saw Tali Freaks deliver a strong deep fuelled remix on Tirrenia Vibe’s ‘Night Falls’ which was very well received.
First up we have the Original Mix that gets right into a groovy deep vibe from the off as pounding kicks are met with a classy and funky bass that teases and teases. Cool flowing rhythms are formed out of a simple yet highly effective percussion arrangement. Smooth and delicate pads offer a true taste of deep house and these are complimented beautifully with some funky key work. A big focus here is the bass, it’s a definite ass shaker as the floors will attest very soon.
Next up we have the Stradivarius Re Edit which comes at us with a pure deep house driven vibe. That funky bassline is superb as it bubbles along on its groovy path. Very cool drum patterns provide a solid rhythmic base for the track as it takes control of the floor. The break offers a cool insight to the bass as it constantly evolves alongside soft pads. Look out for those funky keys, they will get you moving in no time, a must have for any set.
Tirrenia Vibe are Gerardo Cinquegrana & Luigi D’Esposito, the guys make their Eyepatch debut with this sublime effort entitled ‘Night Falls’ which comes packed with three superb remixes. These guys have been around the scene for almost 20 years, they have a hugely impressive back catalogue within many different genres, while here they are digging into Deep House vibes.
The Original Mix intros with a nice punchy kick and a subtle percussion, a beautiful rolling bass drops in and sets the track up perfectly for a truly sublime ride. A cool wispy pad sweeps over the sound before a short break introduces a melancholic piano. The vocal is very classy with some very cool FX work put in and it works so well with that piano. Great stuff and one to watch!
First up on the remix are studio partners David Jarquin and Daniel Cano aka Jarquin & Cano. They got together in 2013 and their similar styles have gelled beautifully. These two are definitely at the forefront of rising talents and are definitely worth watching. The remix gets right into the heart of the original as the vocal is retained in all its glory. Lush and deep chords sit nicely alongside the deep bass which itself gives the track a nice bounce. Tight drums provide steady rhythms making this a very danceable track indeed. Superb stuff from these guys!
The highly impressive Tali Freaks are up next with their Dirtydeep Mix. We haven’t seen Tali Freaks in a while, their last outing, ‘Let Me Be Into House’ was very well received indeed so it’s good to see them back on remix duty. The remix gets straight down to business with a minimal approach as the kicks and low basses go to work. The vocal is used sparingly and this gives it great character and it works perfectly alongside the synths which have a stuttering effect. The break lets loose a sultry piano riff giving the sound a darker edge. Very nice indeed form the guys!
Gaulois returns to EP after his last track ‘Living On The Music’ won praise from all quarters. Here he sets the remix off with a nice chunky kick and pad that sweeps through beautifully. A short break unleashes the bass that rises up from below with a very cool rhythm attached. The vocal is used nicely here and a cool piano is the perfect companion. The main break sees a very cool hook come through which sits nicely in the sound. An all round classy effort and a must for those deep house boxes.
