Based in Barcelona, Spain, GarcyNoise aka Ruben Garcia returns to Piston with this stunner entitled The Colour Of Your Heart. Ruben has featured on Piston before with cuts showing up on The Secrets Of The Trade 2 and Best Of Piston Recordings 2012 as well as the diverse She’s Got It EP back in 2012. Considered an international force in electronic music Ruben has worked with top producers from around the world and is a highly respected DJ and producer. He set up his own label Justified Cause Recordings which has spawned a whole host of top talent and led to the formation of a sub label, Justified Entertainment which itself has a very impressive roster. Vinyl is a big part of his ethos and he has been collecting since a young age, at 17 he started to play at parties around his hometown and beyond before breaking out onto the international scene.
First up we have the Original Mix of The Colour Of Your Heart with its electrified intro that features very cool FX accompanied by a raw bass sound. A nice phat kick soon appears and the groove starts to take shape beautifully. The track takes on a very street vibe with gritty sounds and sharp percussions. The arrangement is tight and combines well giving off that raw house vibe which becomes so infectious. The break introduces a smooth funky synth that gives so much character and makes this a definite must have for those deep sets.
Spanish DJ and producer Andres Boned aka Bonetti delivers a stunning remix of The Colour Of Your Heart as he takes the sound through a pure house workout with sublime twists and turns. We recently saw Bonetti’s ‘My House Of Neglect’ on Piston which done the rounds in style. This remix is top notch as it nurtures the original sounds into a driving house groove filled with sublime organ riffs that will have you hooked in no time and a super tight drum arrangement that will have the asses shaking all night long. All this is shored up by a very cool and deep bass that sits perfectly within the sound. Cool vocal samples are evident throughout and keep with the street vibe of the original. Top notch stuff from Bonetti, not to be missed.
The next track we have is the Original Mix of Not NY. The intro is a smooth percussion led sequence with a classic wood hit that drives the tempo beautifully. A fantastic stab teases its way into the sound and soon dominates the track before a nice chunky kick gets the track really moving. Classic electro sounds are there to be discovered as the track evolves with the master stroke being that groovy bassline that seeps right into your soul as it commands authority throughout the sound along with its groovy synth riff partner. Nice vocal samples are the perfect addition here and round off a stunning display of house music production, superb stuff!
Italian DJ and producer Ivan Masa offers up his remix of Not NY. Ivan’s last outing on Piston was the stunning ‘Don’t Stop The Groove Man’ which solidifies this guys talents as a top end producer. Here the remix takes the groove that little bit deeper with its tough bass that pulsates right through the sound. Cool drum arrangements provide a solid rhythmic bass as classic vocal samples come through. A stabby synth begins to form and transforms into a tasty riff that keeps this track firmly at the deeper end. The break sees more of that synth stab as beautifully placed strings and pads begin to filter in. A brilliant slice of house that will do well on the floors no doubt.
