Daddy aka Koen Mertens turns up on our Green Martian imprint after some fine releases on Bonzai Progressive and Eyepatch. Here he delivers the outstanding ‘Memories Are Forever’ which comes with an awesome remix from Davide Catania.
First up we have the Original Mix, which after giving it a few listens will have the nostalgia flowing through your system on overdrive. The intro boasts a cool punchy kick with classic percussions building up a nice flowing vibe. A deep and resonating bass enters the fray on the offbeat and all around many wonderful sounds paint a complex picture. An intensity builds in the sound which culminates in a smooth melodic groove. This groove somehow takes you back to the great days of progressive while keeping a firm root in the here and now. The break is a stunning display of simplicity as a cool hook takes hold with warm pads ebbing and flowing in the background. Look out for some fantastic vocal manipulation and classic samples.
Based in Denmark, Davide returns to Green Martian for remix duty and what a fantastic job he does. We last saw Davide here with his ‘Desert Sky’ which certainly raised a few eyebrows as expected. The remix intros with a superb kick and hat combo with percussions building nicely giving off a cool bouncy vibe. The bass soon takes over and injects a dose of energy that really beefs up the sound no end. Excellent use of the vocal sample and coupled with rising pads give a nice melodic flavour. The break ushers in a classy guitar riff before a nice big synth takes us right back into the track for the remainder of this kick ass cut. Definitely not to be missed!
Chantola recently delivered his superb artist album ‘Lost In Funny Space Games’ which is being very well received from many quarters and which is no surprise when you have gems like ‘It’s Not What You Say’. This track has been plucked from the album and been subjected to a host of top quality remixes, no less than six remixes in total from top class artists will no doubt get any floor shakin’!
First up is the Original Mix which intros with a beefy kick and some well clipped hats giving that classic house flavour. A strong, throbbing bass sits on the offbeat and adds a huge depth to the sound. Stunning vocals come through and are the perfect companion for a mesmerizing synth pad lurking in the background. The track transforms itself throughout, building the layers beautifully and ending up with fine slice of progressive house. Definitely not to be missed this one, get it into those playlists quick!
Crocy is first at hand to offer his remix skills and what a job he does here. Crocy’s remix takes on a very smooth and subtle groove, the kicks give off a cool laidback feel with a big punch and sit so well with the expertly crafted bass riffs. The vocal comes through beautifully here adding a richness to the sound and is accompanied by some nice, distant melodies thanks to a lovely piano sound. Wonderfully deep vibes here and a definite must for those late night sets. For those who would like to leave the vocal behind we also have an instrumental mix from Crocy.
Koen Mertens aka Daddy is up next with his remix. Right from the off we are met with a huge in your face sound as a deep drone blasts out alongside a cool percussion pattern. The kicks soon follow as that drone powers on relentlessly. The vocal comes through with a very cool transformation thanks to some nifty FX work which puts it right at home alongside this monster groove. On the main break the groove simmers down with a cool arp and the vocal before slamming back with an added synth riff that is really gonna rock those floors for sure.
Audio Noir is up next with his Rekonstruction. As usual we are treated to a solid progressive house workout which intros with a rhythmic percussion and a very cool melodic sequence. The kicks fade in very discreetly and bring with them a very powerful thump and are soon joined by a great vocal. The track really sets off on an epic ride with the deep rooted bass being the driving force. As the groove progresses we get a hint of a classic synth stab that teases as it lurks in the background. The track breaks to reveal a little more on those stabs before the bass takes over and we are thrust back into the main groove, wonderful stuff yet again out of Australia.
Next up we have deepAlexander on the remix and he churns out a very cool slice indeed. Soft kicks are met with a tough well rounded bass that plucks away giving off a strong vibe as a synth note drones out in the back. The vocal is used brilliantly and sits behind the sound just enough to be very effective. The subtle percussions add smooth rhythms and are the perfect accompaniment to this quite minimal groove. Top stuff!
Lastly we have the Extended Zen Mix which is a fantastic journey through the ambient side of this track. Warm and melodic pads are the order of the day and these are joined with the now recognisable vocal which is a nice partnership. A cool synth arp comes through as a mighty crash introduces each section. Smooth deep basses fade up and take over the sound before kicks blast through making this a perfect piece for an intro in any set.
The ever popular Matan Caspi serves us up another tasty progressive treat in the shape of his latest works ‘I Wanna’. His last outing ‘Muddy Waters’ gained much support and is testament to the talent on offer from this guy. This release comes with two top notch remixes from top notch producers.
The Original Mix sets off with a percussion led intro with a snippet of funky keys peeking through. The kicks fill out the track nicely and a deep resonating bass gets the groove flowing. Nice and steady house vibes with a cool vocal coming in adding to the funky nature within the sound. The break reveals much more on the vocal front with the funk levels rising ten-fold through some very cool keys and pads, superb stuff from Matan and not to be missed!
Slovenian DJ and producer Matevz Crocy aka Crocy knows no bounds when it come to top quality productions and remixes as he always delivers the goods, and then some. His last release ‘Rotten Hour’ is currently doing the rounds and getting much attention. On the remix here Crocy beefs up the sound with chunky kicks and a wonderful deep infectious bass that forces those hips to sway. Super tight percussions provide a solid rhythm as the occasional synth makes an appearance. Aside from that bass the next big focus here is the use of the vocals, they are used perfectly and really set the track off brilliantly, cracking stuff and a must for those groovy late night parties.
Next up we have Daddy aka Koen Mertens on the remix. Koen has blasted out some great work in his time, but recently he has ramped things up a gear. In the last few months he has knocked out some fine original work alongside top quality remixes. Most notably his tracks ‘Hidden Mojo’ and ‘Accelerator’ saw big support across the board and we hope there is more to come from this guy. The remix intros with a cool kick and hat combo, a vocal sample fades through before a the bass ploughs in. The bass is a big focus here as more vocals play along into the groove. Some awesome acid type sequences show up on the break giving a new dimension to the track. Superb stuff from Koen!!
